- Open PhD and postdoctoral positions are published on our Jobs page and/or through the relevant TUM recruitment channels.
- Candidates applying for an advertised position should follow the requirements and application procedure specified in the respective job advertisement.
- Specific job advertisements may define additional or different application requirements. In such cases, the requirements stated in the respective advertisement take precedence.
We also consider unsolicited applications from candidates whose research profile, expertise, and proposed research activities are closely aligned with the Chair's research areas and available infrastructure.
Applicants should clearly explain a one-page motivation letter:
- their motivation for joining the Chair;
- how their previous research and expertise relate to the Chair´s activities;
- the research topics they would like to pursue; and
- their funding situation or potential funding opportunities, where applicable.
The submission of an unsolicited application does not imply that a funded position is currently available.
Researchers who intend to apply for an individual fellowship or other external funding with us as the host institution are welcome to submit an application.
Candidates should additionally indicate:
- the intended funding programme or fellowship;
- the expected application deadline, if known;
- the proposed research topic;
- the intended duration of the project; and
- the expected role of the chair as a host institution.
Applications will be assessed according to their scientific fit with the Chair, the availability of suitable infrastructure and supervision, and the feasibility of the proposed funding route. Candidates who have already secured external funding should clearly indicate the funding source and budget, project duration, and expected starting date.
