The Chair of Binder Jetting Technology is part of the TUM School of Engineering and Design and is located at the Garching research campus. We are integrated into the Centre for Building Materials and Materials Testing (cbm) - one of the most renowned research and testing institutes for building materials in Germany.
Our research and teaching is dedicated to the materials and methods of digital construction materials and methods of digital construction.
Digital Construction stands for the use of digital technologies to make the entire life cycle of buildings - from planning and construction to operation - more efficient and sustainable. Traditional construction technologies are combined with, enhanced by or replaced by digital technologies.
Our research focuses on the interaction of materials and digital methods interaction of materials and digital methods in the construction and operation of buildings. Digital construction is researched in a wide range of areas, with research focussing on
- Digital manufacturing processes in construction,
- High-performance materials for digital manufacturing processes,
- Sustainable materials for digital manufacturing as well as
- Digital maintenance and monitoring.
In this context, we offer a sound academic education for students of architecture and civil engineering, in which practical relevance and research are closely interlinked. In co-operation with all relevant public funding institutions and selected industry partners, we work on interdisciplinary research projects along the entire construction value chain.
